Lyme Light
Body Battlefield
When she falls ill with a myriad of mysterious symptoms, a young artist discovers she has Lyme disease, a genetically-complex bacteria with the power to wreak havoc on every part of her body.
Synopsis
Once a lively, active, socially-outgoing young woman, Caitlin Bassolino falls into sickness and gradually loses sight of the horizon. Left with more questions than answers, Caitlin and her family furiously seek a diagnosis for her mysterious symptoms.
As she recounts the story of the disease that left her chronically debilitated and bedridden, we watch as she enjoys the activities she couldn’t during the illness: drawing, painting, cooking, and hiking. The story spans her life from medically withdrawing from college classes at age 19, receiving a diagnosis of Lyme disease at age 20, being bedridden, using a wheelchair, walking with a cane on her 21st birthday, and finally standing on her own again at age 22.
